If collecting on behalf of someone else, we may require confirmation from the person who placed the order.

Orders containing restricted products may require additional checks before collection.

20. Risk and Ownership of Goods

21. Welding Gas, Cylinders and Exchanges

Mellis Welding Supplies Ltd supplies welding gases, including SGS gases, subject to availability and applicable safety requirements.

Some gases and related products may be subject to legal restrictions, delivery requirements or collection requirements.

By purchasing welding gas from us, you agree that:

  • You will use gases safely and only for their intended purpose.

  • You will follow all manufacturer safety instructions.

  • You will store and handle cylinders correctly.

  • You will comply with any applicable laws and safety requirements.

We reserve the right to refuse supply where we believe it is unsafe, unlawful or inappropriate to complete the sale.

22. Gas Cylinder Ownership and Deposits

Where applicable, gas cylinders supplied by Mellis Welding Supplies Ltd or our suppliers remain the property of the cylinder owner.

A cylinder deposit may be required when taking possession of a gas cylinder.

The cylinder deposit does not represent ownership of the cylinder.

Customers must:

  • Return cylinders in accordance with our cylinder exchange arrangements.

  • Return cylinders in a safe and reasonable condition.

  • Not modify, damage, sell, transfer or dispose of cylinders.

Failure to return cylinders may result in loss of the deposit and additional charges where applicable.

23. Cylinder Exchange Service

Where cylinder exchange is available, customers may exchange empty cylinders for full replacement cylinders subject to:

  • Availability of the required gas type.

  • Availability of suitable cylinder sizes.

  • Compliance with supplier requirements.

Customers must ensure that cylinders returned for exchange:

  • Belong to the appropriate supplier scheme.

  • Are not damaged or unsafe.

  • Are returned with any required identification markings intact.

We reserve the right to refuse exchanges where cylinders are damaged, unsuitable or cannot legally be accepted.

24. Hazardous Goods and Restricted Products

Certain products sold by us may require additional precautions, including:

  • Welding gases

  • Chemicals

  • Adhesives

  • Cleaning products

  • Other regulated substances

You agree that:

  • You will use such products responsibly.

  • You will follow all safety instructions and manufacturer guidance.

  • You will ensure products are kept away from children and unauthorised users.

Some products may only be supplied to customers who meet minimum age requirements or other legal requirements.

We may request proof of age or other information before completing an order.

25. Returns and Consumer Cancellation Rights

If you are a consumer, you may have the right to cancel your order under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

You generally have 14 days from receiving your goods to notify us that you wish to cancel your order.

After notifying us, you must return the goods within the required timeframe.
